YMCA of the Rockies

Legett Christian Center

The venerable Hyde Chapel, one of the original camp buildings, functioned well for very large and very small groups and services, but there existed a demand for another size. Additionally, the small chaplain’s office could not adequately serve the entire religious activities staff.

The new religious activities center combines a 200 seat chapel with a gathering hall, library and staff offices. Situated just across the drive from the original chapel, the building is oriented to allow attendees a framed view of Mount Ypsilon, a treasured peak at the camp. Exposed timber trusses, wood paneling and a two-sided stone fireplace lend the mountain lodge feel found in many of the original buildings, while the exterior detailing is designed to blend with the traditional camp architecture.
