Stanley Circle Residence

This was a speculative design for a local client on yet another steep, rocky, challenging lot. The home is positioned high enough on the lot to take advantage of northern views of the lake and the mountains beyond while staying below the site line of homes on the slope above.

Despite the relatively small size of the lot, the house is sited to maximize views while maintaining privacy. The master suite is tucked back into the hillside and shaded by mature trees, while still capturing the morning sun. A large deck above the garage allows for a panorama of surrounding peaks. The vaulted two-story great room takes in the light and makes the moderate size space (the main floor is under 1,800sf) seem quite large.

Varying colors and siding textures add detail to the simple, strong forms of the home. The stone chimney and timber framed porch clearly mark the entry and front door to the house. The home sold before completion with no changes to the overall design.
